Port Dundas Pottery Spirit Flagon

Reference: 01392

Description: A stoneware spirit flagon produced at the Port Dundas Pottery, Glasgow. The flagon has a cream and brown glaze with attractive cherries and foliage decoration. Stamped to the base, Port Dundas Pottery, Glasgow.

Dimensions: H: 18cm (7")

Additional Information: Port Dundas Pottery Company was established for the manufacture of stoneware about the year 1819. In 1856 a new glaze was introduced, giving the ware a cream-coloured appearance, much purer and cleaner for many purposes than the old brown salt glaze, and with this a great demand sprang up for stoneware beer bottles.

Price: £15
